DePaul University is the largest private university whose faculty members' priority is teaching. DePaul is also the nation's largest Catholic university, and has held diversity as a core value since its founding. Students of color account for 36 percent of the total current enrollment. The Physics department is located in an urban campus near downtown Chicago, and offers a two year Physics M.S. program. Most graduate students are supported through a Teaching Assistantship. The curriculum combines core graduate-level physics courses with electives and thesis research, done under the mentorship of a faculty member. The department has nine full time faculty and eight M.S. students, conducting research in a wide range of fields using both on-campus laboratories and major international science facilities. In recent years, most graduates of the Physics M.S. program have been admitted to Ph.D. programs in Physics or a related field.
